The fact that “Anno 1404” is no longer undisputedly at number 1 in the “Anno” ranking of the community is mainly due to the latest series offshoot, “Anno 1800”, which, thanks to numerous DLCs and years of support, has meanwhile become significantly more extensive than all previous series parts. In addition to the campaign, “Anno 1404” also offers the usual endless game that can be played in co-op if desired. With the integration of two different populations – Occident and Orient – “Anno 1404” laid the foundation for the more modern series offshoots, in which several types of population also have to be satisfied. “Anno 1404” has long been considered by many series fans as the best offshoot of the popular strategy series from Germany.

In addition, the “Venice” extension is already part of the package. In this slightly revamped version of the classic, Ubisoft has built in support for higher resolutions up to 4K including suitable interface scaling. The version of “Anno 1404” offered free of charge is the History Edition, which was published in summer 2020. The History Edition of “Anno 1404” currently costs 7.50 euros on Steam.
